Bench Notes

So I begin this month by saying a hearty “Thank you!” to First Baptist Church and everyone who had a part in our recent MUSICAMP week.  It was an awesome week, and we had 70 children or so every day.  It was great to sense God’s Spirit working and moving as the children shared a variety of activities and events.  Pastor Steve did a fabulous job in leading worship each day, and helping us understand our theme verse (Psalm 98: 4-6 The Message).  God bless you all for your faithfulness to Him in this endeavor.

It’s hard to believe that we’ve had 20 years of this program.  I would never imagine that it would have lasted that long and continued to provide ministry to the children of our community.  It is so great to offer a high quality experience at no cost to the families who participate.  What a great way to love share the love of Jesus!

The Men’s Chorus on Father’s Day did a great job.  Thanks to everyone who came to rehearsals and sang on the 20th.  I thought they sounded wonderful and am really pleased to see so many participate.

This summer in worship you will be blessed by the ministry of many of our own people and several special guests from the community. Seraphim, Margee Poole, Julie Shafer, Arthur Hinton and several others will join us throughout these summer months.

Thanks to Higher Standards, Adam Blakey’s jazz group who were in church on the 27th.  They really blessed our hearts in many ways.  Adam starts Millikin University in August, majoring in Commercial Music, which will open many doors for him as a musician.

PJ and I are now settled (mostly!) into our new digs at 4742 Arbor Court.  We are blessed with the “condo lifestyle” and thank God for His direction and guidance throughout this most unexpected journey.

Loving Heavenly Father, to You we make all our thanksgiving.  You give us each breath and lead us by Your hand.  Thank You for all the blessings of life, for Your Presence with us during the hard times, and for the joy that You bring to us each morning.  Help us live as people who reflect Your grace and love to everyone, we ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
