FBC Loves Seniors!

YES! is the Senior Adult Ministry of First Baptist Church.

Our purpose is to promote study, service and socializing among the senior adult community.

We explore the journey of senior adults, drawing experience from those who have "been there and done that" and through experts with resources and knowledge to share with you.

There are no restrictions on who may attend.  It's free and open to everyone any age.

Plan to come and check it out!  You will receive the blessing of being with friends and meeting new ones.

  • Monthly Meetings - 3rd Thursday of Month

We enjoy a potluck dinner in the Fellowship Hall each 3rd Thursday of the month.  If you are attending for the first time, please be our guest and come as you are!

It is not necessary to bring a dish each month.  There will be plenty of food.  If you are busy or do not feel up to bringing a dish, please join us and bring something when you can.  See our Tips for a Stress Free Potluck brochures on the resource table or click here for more information. The entree, salad and drinks are provided along with all the tableware.

Programs and guest speakers are prayerfully chosen just for you.  The speakers are current, "user friendly", and designed for the senior adult.  Programs include topics of health care issues, home, retirement, finance, senior services, resources, community programs, security, and your faith.  If you have an idea, let us know.  Comment cards are placed on each table.

  • Love That Looms - Tuesday Wednesday Thursday

Love That Looms is our senior mission project.  We loom warm hats for school children.  Each October we present the completed hats to the School District to distribute with discernment to those in need.  During October and November, we loom hats for the homeless.  These hats are distributed by Dove, one of FBC's local missions.

Tuesday 1-3 pm, Wednesday 4-7 pm and Thursday 10-12 am

No experience necessary, we have coaches on site.  All supplies provided.  Join this great group to loom or help with administrative duties.  You will love this!

  • Trips - 4th Tuesday of Month 8:45 am - ?0:00 pm

May through November we take trips around central Illinois to visit places of interest and have lunch.  It is a great time to relax, get away from your stress, see new sites, eat great food and have an opportunity to shop at unique shops.  The friends you meet during these times will warm your heart and make to laugh.  Our trips are senior friendly trips with adequate stops, experienced drivers who will help you enter and exit the vehicle.  Wheel chairs and walkers welcome.  Don't miss these fun times.  For a trip schedule call the office or click here.

  • Bountiful Food Ministry
